Who We Serve

Wood4Good primarily serves the elderly, who make up more than 50% of those we help. We also support families with children, veterans, individuals who have lost their jobs or income, and others facing difficult times.
Many of our recipients have traditionally processed their own firewood but can no longer do so due to age or health. Others struggle with financial hardship due to illness, caregiving responsibilities, or fixed incomes that don’t keep pace with inflation.
We know how vital our work is because of the powerful stories we hear and witness:
- We delivered firewood to a man caring for his sick spouse, who had resorted to collecting pallets in his Subaru and cutting them nightly just to keep their home above 50°F.
- A widow receiving firewood for the first time had her daughter tearfully remark, “Daddy used to do this.”
- Some recipients have been in such dire straits that they resorted to burning furniture to stay warm.
- One woman, escaping an abusive relationship, was left without a means to heat her home after her ex was arrested for attempting to burn it down with her and the children inside. Without his income, she could not afford firewood.
There are countless stories of hardship, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support families in their time of need.
Thank you for your interest and support in addressing this fundamental need. Your help allows us to serve more families—this year and every year.
Wood4Good: From our hearts to their hearth.
Wood4Good: warming homes and warming hearts.
