Wood4Good: Growing Statewide to Keep Vermonters Warm

Wood4Good was founded on a simple belief: no Vermonter should go cold in the winter. What began as a small family effort—splitting a few cords of wood and delivering them quietly to neighbors in need—has grown into a community-powered movement. This past year alone, Wood4Good grew by 20%, serving 188 families with 250 cords of wood, a record that reflects both rising need and incredible volunteer support. Volunteers stepped up, towns rallied, and families across Northwest Vermont experienced what it means when neighbors show up for one another.
Now, Wood4Good is taking its most significant step yet: expanding across the state. We are establishing new processing and distribution hubs in Rutland County, Burke, and Rochester, allowing us to reach some of Vermont’s most remote and underserved regions. This expansion is about more than geography—it’s about strengthening communities and ensuring every Vermonter has access to warmth, dignity, and winter security.
With heating costs rising and economic pressures mounting, many Vermonters are struggling to keep their homes warm. Our Northwest operation has stretched to meet growing demand, but it’s clear the need is statewide—and expanding now is essential.
