Upcycling trees: How Wood4Good helps families and the environment

Every year, countless trees are taken down by local tree services due to storms, disease, or necessary property maintenance. Most of that wood ends up chipped, dumped, or burned as waste—but we at Wood4Good see an opportunity to make a difference. By partnering with these tree services, we upcycle that wood into firewood for families in need. Instead of letting it go to waste, we turn it into warmth and relief for neighbors who could use a helping hand.

Much of the wood we collect is massive—far too heavy or awkward for homeowners to manage on their own. That’s why we rely on specialized equipment like our skid steer and excavator to safely move, lift, and load these logs. But machines alone aren’t enough. At the heart of everything we do is our team of dedicated volunteers. They show up in all weather, ready to cut, split, and package wood by hand. Without them, none of this would be possible. Their time, energy, and heart are what turn raw material into real help for families in need.

If you are interested in helping us heat homes, we have many opportunities for outreach, grant writing and fundraising. We invite you to reach out to see how you can get involved! Please tell your friends and family about our services; we are always looking to help more families.

Remember, Wood4Good is nothing without the ongoing support of donors (and sponsors) like you.  Please continue to consider Wood4Good in your charitable giving plans and, as always, spread the Wood4Good word!
